A place where personalities clash and mesh, where hearts are broken and connections are made, where you can almost hear the darkness and feel the passions. Where will you fit in? Or do you even dare to commence this life altering adventure?

Lexath’s surprise had Vanya smirking in her old, normal way. It was a smug, proud sort of smirk that had once seemingly been plastered to her muzzle. Now, it was a rare and strange sight to see it. So many events had changed her into a completely different wolf. The only way others recognized her was by her seasonal changing pelt and evergreen optics. It all started… All Lexath seemed to be able to muster was a simple ‘Yeah’. Words were never his forte. Vanya gave a small smile in return to easy his whirling mind. She could tell he had many questions which he wished to interrogate her with; but, they all seemed to be jamming at the door of his muzzle, all wanting to come out first. The Alpha’s attention was pulled away from her by a small little brat. At first glance, Vanya peered down at him with a stern expression. Pups were still not her favorite species.
The second Antein’s words of his mother never telling him who his dad was struck a rather hard cord in Vanya’s soul. Jade, cold eyes sharpened and glared at the little pup. He seemed a lot like Nithron. If not for his looks and his voice, she’d have thought it was actually him. “You talk too much.” She snapped without really meaning to be so harsh. Vanya had long ago snapped. Her mind was quite fragile and unstable now. Since Nolo’s disappearance, or his death unspoken death, Vanya’s mind was a very fragile weavings of thoughts and raw emotions. The littlest things could set her off and send her into a whirlwind of rage of epic proportions. Or, the same thing could set her off in the extreme state of near suicidal depression. The only thing, at this moment, connection Vanya to this world and keeping her alive was Nithron. Her little, stupid, missing Nithron.
When the little pup left with his super-hero cry, Vanya sneered lowering her head and giving a low growl. Perhaps somewhere right now, Nithron was saying the same words and preparing himself to go and search for her. She could only hope.
“Vanya.”
The sound seemed so far off. At first, she did not recognize it. It did not register in her brain that someone was talking to her. That Lexath was talking to her. Eventually, noticing that the Alpha’s lips were moving, Vanya realized the subject onto whom he emptied his suggestion onto was her. Blinking, the silver femme licked her muzzle. That time alone to speak to one another? Had they really made such a promise? If so, it was too far back for Vanya to even remember. Things of her past were iffy and broken. Fragments. Even the memories she envisioned now, of present times, were not so clear as they once may have been. Hesitant, Vanya peered deeper into the brute’s territory once again letting her mind go to the thoughts residing there.
A powerful howl ripped through her mind, skull, and body sending quivers down the vertebra of the spine and back up. Vanya gave a low whine and slunk to the ground expecting an attack. Her eyes whipped around looking for the invisible adversary, but met the eyes of none. Licking her muzzle again, Vanya was left with two of Lexath’s pups as the brute trod off to claim his den area. Eyeing them, Vanya growled and slinked passed them not wishing to bother with them. She vaguely recognized one from his first litter with Uru. Gazing ahead Vanya licked her muzzle once more out of nervous habit. She had had no intentions of staying long. Sure she wanted to chat with Lexath, but entering his territory and helping him reorganize things? It was like she was in his pack again. Vanya couldn’t be in his pack. Not until Nolo and Nithron were found, anyhow. Once the two brutes were located, she’d be peachy once more. Everything would return to normal. This was taking away from her search for her brutes.
Catching up, Vanya blurted out, “Have you seen Nithron?” The question burned her tongue. Green optics burrowed deep into Lexath’s while she awaited his answer fervently. If he had not seen hide or tail of the little gremlin, it would be best if she left. By now Vanya was seeing that it was best not to get attached to others. They either died or went missing. Lexath was the only one in her life that she had known for so long without either happening to him. If … if it did…
Vanya choked and coughed. Stopping for a moment to calm down, the she wolf heaved a mighty sigh. This was not at all how she pictured her life ending up. Far from it. “I’m fine.” She answered automatically without ever hearing his question. He was the caring kind. Any sign of any abnormality, and he was sure to question it. Easiest to nip it in the bud. Looking ahead of where they were, Vanya gestured to the area she had seen with her muzzle. “How’s that for a den?” She asked with a small smile. Maybe, for once, she did something right.

As Lexath headed deeper into the thickets, marking trees, bushes, rocks and any other significant object that seemed to stick out. Hopefully his scent would stay there and would not be moved for a long time to come. However, with old age catching up to him, the old gray and white alpha brute did not expect him to be on this earth for far too much longer. His dark blue orbs glanced back at the silvery femme behind him. A sort of sad smile, she was deep in thought. Something he was not used to seeing her in. All hostility she’d held before was no longer there. Instead in it’s place was… depression.
She’d lost herself throughout the year, she had. The lose of Nolo, her innocents, and Nithron. The combination of the three had changed her and he could see it. It almost pained him to see her how she was. She’d lost all her light and lived in the darkness. She’d ran with Nithron a while back without a single word, she only came back once before she left once more and now. ‘I hope she stays.’ His ears fell back slightly as he stopped to look back at her, waiting for her to catch up.
When the silvery femora caught up with him, she blurted out a question urgently. Lexath seemed a little taken aback by the question but he sadly shook his head. “I am afraid not, Vanya, I’m sorry.” He murmured softly as he turned away from her, unable to watch the disappointment he’d caused. He continued on marking his territory and searching for dens. He was still rather angered about their former dens being crushed in the earthquake. “I will let you know if I see him though, or if anyone else sees him.” He added softly, knowing she would probably leave to search for the young brute, her son.
Suddenly, the silvery femora went on coughing and heaving heavily. Lexath stopped and trotted back towards her form. “Vanna-” He started before she automatically answered, assuring him she was fine he nodded ever so slightly. Instead of going on ahead he stuck close to her side as they continued on into the thickets. Then his attention was drawn away from her as she pointed out an opening under some roots of a tree. It looked as if a log had opened up the trees roots, which was exactly how it was.
His lips formed into an “O” shape as he stared at the opening before he went on to investigate it. Sniffing the threshold, he made sure no one else was within it. A small smile formed on his lips and he cranked his neck back at Vanya a wider smile formed on his maw as he entered, gesturing for her to follow him within.
Upon entering, Lexath noticed small forms of light from farther within the cavern. The light provided it easier for him to see, which was a plus. The room in which they stood in now would of course be the main room. It was fairly spacious, which was another plus. The cave forked three ways, and first Lexath decided to start from the left. Taking a left he found himself in another room, which happened to be the room where the light had been coming from. It was a fairly decent sized room, nearly two-thirds the size of the main room. This would be the lesser room, or the lounge. His eyes fell upon tangles of roots that cascaded down from holes in the ceiling. The holes in the ceiling where what caused the light to shine into the room. “Interesting.” He admired it for a short time before spotting a small pool within the room. ‘So far so good.’ He thought before heading back to the main room, or foyer.
His blue hues met with Vanya’s green ones and she grinned ever so slightly. “I think we have a keeper.” He said, before heading down the middle path, down that way he found another room, smaller than the previous two. The room was had several rock formations and roots sticking out of the floor. But what caught his eye was the large rock in the back of the room. Testing out his idea, the brute walked up the side of the rock and onto the top. From there he could see the whole room, ‘Prefect for meetings.’ He thought and leaped off the rock, the other rocks could be where his Delta and Gammas stood.
With a soft sigh, Lexath found himself back in the Foyer, and lastly was the right tunnel, down it there was a side room off the path. In it was something fairly interesting, a wall that was over run by roots and hardened dirt and rocks. They looked as if they where cubby holes, the room was fairly small and surprisingly clean. ‘Infirmary.’ He thought, thinking the wall would be a perfect place to put herbs in. Off the Infirmary was another room, even smaller than the last two, but what was most amazing about this one was the large pool in it. A smile formed on his maw as he watched light shone through a back entrance giving the waters a silvery glow. “Silverpool it shall be called then.” he said aloud before he headed back through the Infirmary and farther down the cavern.
He was some what puzzled though for he came to a dead end. ‘No Alpha Quarters… I might have to turn the Lounge into our quarters…’ He thought before he came across white sand within the caverns. It was odd, and large roots blocked his path, heading him at a dead end. “Well, shit.” He frowned but something caught his eyes, or more like his nose. The scent of fresh water. Lying down low, the brute saw that past the roots was another room. Astonished the brute crawled under them, and pushed past them and inside was a small room. Within the room a small pool. “Perfect.” He nearly purred, a nice small cozy secluded area from the rest of the dens. Yes, the perfect Alpha’s Quarters.
After becoming familiar with the rooms of the dens, he walked back into the Foyer with Vanya and sat down, scratching his ear. “I believe we have a winner. Thanks.” He said, thanking her, if not for her he probably wouldn’t have noticed the gaping hole in the tree. He chuckled, but she had pointed it out and suggested it first, thus she deserved a thanks.

Lira was fairly grateful for the small rabbit who lied now asleep between her shoulder blades. If not for her, Lira and Zysha surely would not have been able to find their way out of the crater. ‘Only a rabbit would think of digging their way out mostly.’ The slopes to go back out had been too steep, thus Zysha and Lairiel had to dig into the earth slightly to help create steps to guide them out of the crater and now they could get in and out of it easily. Provided the steps stayed there that was.
‘Sleep well my friend you deserve it.’ She thought as she cranked her neck back to look at the arctic hare sleeping between her shoulder blades. She’d done a great job to help them dig as much as she could. A large job for a small creature.
Yawning, Lairiel soon found herself and Zysha in the thickets of her home. Lira’s tail wagged ever so slightly, she loved her lands. They where her home, she’d been born here and explored ever inch of them, however, now. ‘The lands have shifted.’ She thought sourly, everything she’d known had been altered and familiars became unfamiliar. “The dens are this way.” She told Zysha, as she remembered the direction, broken limps from the earthquake still lied about trying to hinder their journey but Lira moved them aside and continued onwards.
When finally they reached the site of the dens, Lira shrieked. “W-what happened?!” She barked stepping back at the sight of her dens in rubble. Her home. “No… No, no, no, no.” She shook her head and flopped down on the ground. “No…” She murmured and lied her head on her paws staring at the rubble that used to be her dens.
With a flick of her rather large ears, Aza started to come around before Lairiel shrieked and the young rabbit found herself fully awake now. Jumping up the arctic hare quickly jumped down from her friend’s back as the young wolf flopped on the ground. Aza’s heart beat quickly she’d been startled with her suddenly shout and movement. Once Aza calmed down she took a deep breath and hopped over towards Lira. “Lira… Lairiel, dear… Are you alright?” She asked timidly a bit afraid still that she might through a tantrum or something or another. She had no clue what was wrong and was a bit afraid for herself and Lira.
Shaking her head she looked back at Aza and Zysha. “I-I’m sorry… The earthquake must have shift the lands more than I thought… our dens are gone…” She sniffed, blinking back the tears that wanted to fall. So many questions formed in her head, but then a scent was caught. ‘Father.’ She perked up slightly, and feeling rather relieved. She was unsure if her family had been crushed or not, now knowing her father was okay she felt confidence he’d gotten everyone out before it’d collapsed.
Nuzzling Aza’s cheek, she picked the small creature up and placed her back on her back between her shoulder blades where the arctic hare gratefully snuggled into her dirty white fur. “My father should be near by, C’mon.” She smiled and gestured towards where her father’s scent lead.
The two wolves and single hare walked deeper and deeper into the thickets. Soon, another scent entered Lira’s nostrils. ‘Who is that?’ She wondered, maybe a new member her father had happened upon. She wagged her tail slightly at the idea of new members. She’d grown tired of her pack filled with her siblings and father’s old friends. Sure, she loved them but she liked the idea of something new and exciting once in a while.
Soon, she found the mouth of a cave, and knowingly she smiled back at Aza and Zysha. “C’mon, father is just up ahead.” She told them and entered the caves, as she entered she saw just who she was looking for and someone she was rather shocked to see. “V-vanya!” She barked and grinned ear to ear as she approached the silvery femmora. Nuzzling her cheek she smiled. “Do you remember me?” She asked with a bit of a sad smile, her orbs searched behind her and her ears perked forward, what she was searching for not there. “Where’s Nit?” She questioned recalling her pup mate. He’d been born the same day her and her siblings where so they played together. She missed the goof, when he’d left with Vanya without a word she was rather sad.
Putting that aside her orbs turned to her father and she smiled as he came over and nuzzled her. Her cheek rubbed against the snowy white part of his chest and under his chin. “Father, I have a new member for us, two actually.” She smiled looking back at the Russian femme. “This is Zysha, she’s told me she was interested in joining Naru. And then…” she trailed slightly, turning to the side slightly so her father could see Aza. “This is Aza, my friend, she will be staying in the pack with us as well.” She said, firmly, she wouldn’t let her father turn the hare down, knowing her father he might not think it was such a good idea…

Heavily Vanya gave a sigh. “Thank you, Lexath.” She replied. At least Lexath would be on the look out for Nithron. The little brat is probable right here on this damn territory but he wouldn’t even think to come see me. Mentally Vanya hissed at her son. He was such the Nit Wit. Lexath peered at the area she pointed out, not yet revealing if he found the place livable or not. He gestured for her to follow him in. Vanya frowned deeply and hesitated outside. It seemed a bit small and cramp. The she wolf was not sure if she wanted to go in. What if it caved down on her? Stop your fussing! Lexath is here you fool! If there’s anyone on this island who could save you, it’d be him. Vanya swallowed hard and glared at the antagonizing opening. Following Lexath in, Vanya looked around. It was some what like the old den.
Memories flooded her mind causing her to step back out into the air again so that her end half was out and her front half was in. Vanya did not want to get attached. She did not want to stay here again. It was too stressful on her already frayed mind. To be honest, she didn’t want to be here with Lexath. What if he killed over right now? She’d completely loose it. Her son, her mate, her life was gone! Wide eyed and fearful Lexath turned back to her a smiled. Words left his muzzle, words that fell upon deaf ears. Frowning, the brute turned and left forcing Vanya to follow him further into the den. Now that she was with someone, she did not want to be alone again. So many contradiction thoughts, ideas, and emotions.
All throughout the den, Vanya tagged behind Lexath like some lost puppy. The sights she saw did not register in her mind. She would take one glance at the room and then face the ground with a hung head. Eventually, the grey brute gave a displeased curse causing Vanya to look up at him with wary eyes. He must not like this place after all. He wasn’t going to be mad at her for wasting his time, was he? Frowning, Vanya found herself lagging behind him. Looking away for a short moment, Vanya turned back to find that Lexath had disappeared. “LEXATH!” She called out in fear of having already lost him with absolutely no trace.
Blindly, she followed his scent through the roots and into another room. Coming to a halt, she eyed the brute noting how he seemed perfectly find. Fool… Her mind hissed at her, chiding her for her stupidity. Vanya frowned again. Her heart was racing. She had honestly thought that Lexath had disappeared. Sighing heavily, Vanya took a step toward him intending to snuggle against his chest to ensure he was real. However, before she could Lexath side stepped her with intentions of returning to the front of the den. In despair, Vanya trudged after him wondering if the Lexath before her was really just a figment of her imagination and that was why he had not wanted her to touch him! At the Foyer, Lexath sat back on his haunches with a smile and commented her on her work.
With a small smile and a twitch of her tail, Vanya’s ears perked forward. It had been a while since she had heard praise of any kind, even this small of a praise. Her name rang out in her ears. Vanya’s head swung to the side sharply as her eyes narrowed at Lairiel, one of pups from Lexath’s first litter with… Uru. Swallowing, Vanya eyed the femme who was already a year or so old now. The white femme soon did something unthinkable! Approaching Vanya, the she wolf had invaded her personal space and nuzzled her cheek! Vanya gave a snarl and withdrew from the group. It all happened to fast and without warning. Something Vanya did not appreciate. Like a creature of habit, she shrunk into the shadows with a grim expression. “He is missing.” She snapped as her green optics flashed. Not only had the little femme touched her, but she also dared to bring up Nit! The nerve. The little female then announced that the pack had a two new members. One was the regular wolf. The other… was not. Bluntly, Vanya stated, “That is food.”

“V-vanya!” A familiar bark reached the gray and white alpha’s auds. His ears perked up and blue orbs found his eldest daughter (well second eldest) trot in. Another wolf behind her. Lexath raised an eye brow at her wondering just where she had been all this time. It had been a while since he saw his daughter. He was surprised at how much like her mother she looked like. The only difference was in there face. She looked more like her father in her face than her mother. Lexath sighed, a small sad smile on his maw. He still had no clue where Uruviel was, and he was starting to get worried.
“Lairiel…” Lexath murmured as he watched his daughter walk in excited to see a familiar face from her past. Lexath was surprised and slightly alarmed when his daughter bravely went up to Vanya and nuzzled her. Lexath was even more alarmed when Vanya gave a snarl and backed away. The hurt that flashed across Lira’s face was heart breaking but even Lexath knew better. It occurred to him though, that Lira did not. She had not seen the femme she knew as her aunt Vanna since she was a pup. Or her cousin Nithron for that matter.
Lexath stepped over closer to Vanya, his fur brushed against hers as a comfort, letting her know it was alright and okay. Lira meant no harm, but to Vanya the existence of his daughter alone was all the harm in the world. On some level, Lexath knew that but he denied it. Uruviel and Vanya never got along and the fact Vanya and him used to be… something more than friends at one point in time did not help the cause. Vanya likely held a grudge, something he knew she was fairly good at.
Lira asked about Nit, which did not surprise him. Her and Nit played together a lot when first born. There had been a time where Lexath actually thought Nit and Lira might become something more than friends in the future. However, that hope had been lost when Vanya left the pack. A sigh escaped his maw, and Vanya bitter mumbled he was missing. “We shall find him, do not worry, I am sure he is alright.” He gave her a reassuring smile, he was not sure if it was for Vanya or Lira, more so for both he believed at this moment.
His eyes once more turned to Lira as she announced they had two new members for the pack, and Lexath raised an eye brow. Seeing one he did not see the other. The questioning look on his face must have gave it away to her as she introduced the two to him. One a wolf and the other… an arctic hare. Lexath’s brows furrowed, and for once, Lexath had to agree with Vanya as she bluntly stated that that thing was food. “Yes, it is actually. Lairiel, what are you thinking? She cannot live with us, she is …” He trailed off as a howl in the distance reached his auds. He sighed. “Lira, can you take care of that? I shall think about… your other member. I would like to talk with Zysha myself before she joins for sure.” He said, stepping closer to his daughter her lowed his voice so only she could hear.
“Lairiel… I know you are to be alpha soon, and you care confident in yourself but your mother and I are still this lands alphas, and we make final decisions on important matters like knew members. So I wish that you do not get your hopes up in the future.” He murmured, giving his daughter a knowing look as he backed away from her. He felt a bit bad for the disappointment that crossed her face as she murmured that she understood. He nodded and she left the dens off to answer the howl that came from the highlands.
